LEAD is based in downtown Chicago and we do adoptions within 50 miles only. We do not adopt out of state. Thank you.
See a dog that you think would make a great addition to your family? Here are the steps:
All potential adopters must first complete an application to begin the adoption process. You can also print the application and email the completed application back to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. A LEAD representative will review the application. We are a volunteer based rescue with amazing people that have full time jobs, but we will get back to you asap! A L.E.A.D. adoption counselor will call you to discuss your application and clarify any questions.
The next step will be for you, your family, and any current pets to meet the dog you are interested in. This can either be at a private meet-up at a convenient, safe location for everyone or at one of our adoption events. If all goes well, the adoption counselor will contact your personal and veterinary references, and, if applicable contact your landlord.
The final step will be a home check to assure a safe and appropriate living situation and to finalize the adoption!
